About Us
The Foreign Press Association was founded in New York City on February 16th, 1918 as the Association of Foreign Correspondents. For over 100 years, our mission has been to protect the freedom of the press and uplift international journalists working in the United States.
We provide our members with official press credentials, exclusive programming and briefings on current events, networking opportunities, and social gatherings. The FPA strives to connect journalists and media professionals in this fragmented and rapidly evolving news environment. In tandem with our philanthropic arm, the Foreign Press Foundation, we aim to support the education, development, and livelihood of journalists for the realities of today’s media industry.
FPA membership is open to all looking to support a free foreign press. Our members are a dynamic blend of seasoned industry veterans and up-and-coming journalists shaping the future of news and reporting.
Our flagship FPA Scholarship is one of the few grants open to young international journalists living in the United States. Each year, we provide fellowships to 3-5 exceptional graduate students. The fellowship includes mentoring and support from FPA members, the opportunity to contribute to the mission of the FPA, and a financial award.
THE FOREIGN PRESS FOUNDATION
The Foreign Press Foundation, the affiliate arm of the Foreign Press Association, has been the conduit for both global and national corporations to support the education and development of professional journalists for the realities of today’s media industry.
Since its establishment in 1993, the FPF has awarded 88 scholarships to foreign graduate students committed to pursuing their master’s level studies in the United States.
By providing scholarships to these international journalists, the Foundation positions education as the cornerstone of professional journalism, and takes action to develop a new generation of international professional journalists who make a significant difference in the rapidly changing world of journalism and communications.
