As we approach what promises to be differently seasoned holidays, I’m pleased to report that the FPA  is ready for the post-Pandemic and post-Presidential period – even though both are far from over.

We have learnt from adversity. From the first time that we had to convert an in-person briefing on COVID 19's implications to Zoom, we’ve been ready for the future when it arrived, and we’ve now organized more events for our members than any time in the last decade. Our briefings have featured former National Security Advisor John Bolton, former CIA director John Brennan, Hong Kong Journalists' Association leader Chris Yeung, and social activist Bianca Jagger. We covered topics including Black Lives Matter, the funeral industry, Taiwan, and geopolitics in Turkey and the Sahara, along with the economy and technology. We’ve often been ahead of the curve in anticipating news.

Importantly, we are also leading the fight against proposed changes to I-Visas and have called out the U.S. and foreign government actions against journalists here and abroad.

In the New Year, we’ll continue providing access to newsmakers and insights into events in the U.S. and around the world, and representing our members with government and other institutions, and we hope to launch a new prize for best foreign press coverage of the US along with resuming our scholarship program.
We can only do this with your support. Please renew your membership, encourage others to join, and urge the organizations you work for to become corporate members of the FPA and to support the work of the Foreign Press Foundation. And bring us your ideas!

If you have not already done so please click here to renew your membership.

For 2021 our annual rates are as follows:
  • Active Member (International Working Journalist/Media) $100
  • Associate Member (U.S. Journalists, Individuals in Media-Related Fields) $150
  • Student Membership (International/U.S.) $50
  • Editors Circle (Includes special invitations to in-person events planned for 2021) $250

We are very aware of the effect of industry changes and the Pandemic on incomes, so please, if these rates are a challenge, do not hesitate to contact me confidentially and we’ll accommodate your ability to pay. As you know, among the benefits our active members receive are an FPA press card, access to our events and the benefit from the support we provide to the industry.
