The Carroll Kowal Journalism Award

The Carroll Kowal Journalism Award has been given to journalists who enhance the public’s awareness of social conditions in and affecting New York City. It was created in 1991 to honor Carroll Kowal who was an outstanding social worker and leader in social welfare and housing policy in New York City and State. This year the scope of the Kowal Award has been broadened to include national and international journalists.
